Job summary

City of Irving is seeking a Crime Data Analyst to read, interpret and summarize crime data, study data to identify patterns, and prepare charts, graphs, maps and reports for comparison, analysis and forecasting. You will assist in determining police coverage needs and respond to information requests from law enforcement personnel.

A high school diploma or equivalent, plus some college or specialized training in a related field, and two years of relevant experience are required.

Job description

Duties include reading, interpreting and summarizing crime data; studying data and linking common factors to identify patterns and anomalies; preparing charts, graphs, maps and other reports for use in comparison, analysis and forecasting; and providing assistance in determining police coverage needs. Duties also include conducting background research on possible suspects, addresses and vehicles; and responding to requests for information from law enforcement personnel. A high school diploma or equivalent, plus some college or specialized training in a related field, and two years of relevant experience are required. Must have thorough knowledge of MS Office products. Duties involve access to sensitive Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS), which requires that a thorough background check be conducted. Candidates will be subject to a criminal history check. Must not have any criminal conviction above the grade of a Class B misdemeanor or any Class B misdemeanor within the past 10 years; other convictions may also be considered.

PAY GRADE GG19 / FULL PAY RANGE $28.05 - $39.55 PER HOUR
