Job summary

NC State University is seeking a Crew Leader I in Environmental Services to oversee cleaning operations across campus. You will lead teams performing power washing, window washing, waxing floors, and related tasks, ensuring timely resolution of discrepancies and excellent service.

You will coordinate daily operations, train new staff, and handle supply orders while maintaining safety standards on campus. This role supports essential campus functions and requires flexibility during adverse

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cleaning procedures and ability to perform medium to heavy physical work.
• Special certification may be required for some positions.
• MarketPlace (Supply Ordering/Req. Mgmt.), inventory management & budgeting training is preferred.
• Data security, SOP development and professional software skills (Excel/Google apps) are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects including power washing, window washing, floor waxing, and re-lamping fixtures and dispensers.
• Inspect and verify maintenance discrepancies and ensure timely resolution.
• Provide support to other zones as needed, filling in for vacant positions or absenteeism.
• Collect and submit timesheets within established timelines.
• Perform duties during adverse weather or emergencies as assigned.
• Complete accident reports within 24 hours of an incident.
• Assist with equipment inventory and maintain monthly inventory of supplies.
• Submit supply orders for manager approval to ensure adequate stock levels.
• Train new employees and ensure understanding of tasks and safety protocols.
• Transport employees to various locations for assignments.
• Collaborate with maintenance staff to resolve issues efficiently.
• Address and resolve customer requests via radio communications and work orders.

Join our dynamic Environmental Services team as a Crew Leader I, where you’ll lead essential projects, such as power washing entrances, window washing, waxing floors, and more. This role offers an exciting opportunity to guide a dedicated team, ensuring the cleanliness and functionality of campus spaces. You will be responsible for coordinating daily operations, resolving maintenance issues, and delivering excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited:

• Lead projects, including power washing, window washing, floor waxing, and re-lamping fixtures and dispensers
• Inspect and verify maintenance discrepancies and ensure timely resolution
• Provide support to other zones as needed, filling in for vacant positions or absenteeism
• Collect and submit timesheets within established timelines
• Perform critical duties during adverse weather or emergencies as assigned
• Complete accident reports within 24 hours of an incident
• Assist with equipment inventory and maintain monthly inventory of storage closet supplies
• Submit supply orders for manager approval to ensure adequate stock levels
• Train new employees, ensuring they understand tasks and safety protocols
• Transport employees to various locations for assignments
• Collaborate with maintenance staff inside and outside the unit to resolve issues efficiently
• Address and resolve customer requests via radio communications, work orders, and direct interactions

Other Responsibilities

• This position has been designated as essential personnel for the University and may be required to report to work during adverse weather conditions even though the University may be operating on an alternate schedule
• This position may assist with snow and ice removal under the direction of a supervisor

Qualifications

Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Special certification may be required for some of these positions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience performing housekeeping duties in a university or commercial environment
• Preferred training includes MarketPlace (Supply Ordering/Req. Mgmt.), inventory management & control, budgeting, Wolf Report, timesheet management, SOP development, data security, phone etiquette, and intermediate proficiency in MS Excel/Google Sheets, MS Word/Google Docs, and MS PowerPoint/Google Slides

Required License or Certification

• Valid driver's license required
• Must be able to obtain a valid NC driver’s license within 60 days of hire and it must be maintained
