Kelly Services is seeking a Crater Packer in Norwood, MA to design, build, and assemble crates and crating materials for machinery and equipment. The role supports cross-functional teams and requires reading drawings, safe operation of tools, and attention to detail.

Pay: $24

Shift: 7-3pm or 8-4 PM

What’s a typical day as Crater Packer? You’ll be:

• Designing, building, and assembling custom crates, skids, boxes, and platforms for machinery and equipment.

• Determining the best crating methods to ensure safe transit of standard and non-standard items.

• Preparing and installing bracing, blocking, and protective materials for secure transport by truck, rail, air, or ocean.

• Packaging small parcel and large-scale shipments with accuracy and care, ensuring clear labeling.

• Collaborating with engineering, shipping, receiving, and production teams to interpret drawings and improve crating designs.

• Operating tools and equipment (e.g., saws, drills, forklifts) safely and responsibly.

• Maintaining inventory of lumber and crating materials, and supporting requisitions to keep production moving.

• Upholding safety protocols and contributing to a clean, organized, and team-oriented work environment.

This job might be an outstanding fit if you:

• Have experience in carpentry, framing, or working with lumber (highly preferred).

• Are comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.

• Have forklift experience or a willingness to learn.

• Can read drawings, take measurements, and create sketches for custom crates.

• Demonstrate a strong commitment to workplace safety and accountability.

• Thrive as a dependable, detail-oriented team player with problem-solving skills.

• Possess basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office) for shipping labels and documentation.
