Job summary

Kelly Services is seeking a General Helper/Sander in Newburyport, MA. The role involves sanding and prepping architectural millwork and casework, with hands-on duties and light housekeeping. Start with first shift, Monday–Friday.

The position requires physical stamina, good references, and the ability to assist finishers as needed. A strong work ethic and attention to safety are essential for success in this role.

General Helper/Sander

Pay

$20/hour / Shift: Monday - Friday first shift

Job Functions and Responsibilities

• Sand and scuff architectural millwork and casework by hand and using machines.
• Perform general housekeeping, including sweeping, vacuuming, and organizing inventory and equipment.
• Assist finishers and woodworkers by preparing workpieces for finishing.
• Develop organizational skills and maintain a positive, self-motivated attitude.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, push, and move heavy objects.
• Willingness to work on concrete floors for extended periods (8+ hours/day); includes walking, standing, bending, stretching, and repetitive movements.
• Manual dexterity and good vision, hearing, and verbal communication are essential.
• Potential exposure to dust, noise (protection provided), fumes, and odors.

Mental Requirements

• Analytical skills, logic, memory, and clear oral expression.
• Effective interpersonal and organizational skills.

Tools Commonly Used

• Glue scraper, cabinet scraper, Phillips-head and slot-head screwdrivers, ½” open-end wrench, adjustable wrench, hammer, square, tape measure, utility knife, chisels, cordless screw gun.
