Job summary

Qualifications

• A high school diploma and relevant experience.
• A bachelor’s degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience.
• SCDC requires 18 months experience in correctional, security, military, or police work.
• A degree in criminal justice or related field may substitute for 1/2 of the required experience.

Responsibilities

• Under the supervision of the Captain, supervise security assigned to the D2 and the unit cleaning detail workers, and coordinate housekeeping with EHSO.
• Make routine inspections of living areas for compliance with security, safety and sanitation standards.
• Assist with investigations of alleged misconduct by inmates and security personnel in your area of responsibility.
• Assist in conducting formal and informal counts; supervise shift security personnel; prepare employee evaluations, counsel, recommend disciplinary action, and train subordinate staff to required standards of performance.
• Prepare reports as needed.
