Job summary

The State of South Carolina is seeking a Security Supervisor to oversee the D2 unit, supervise security personnel and cleaning detail workers, and coordinate housekeeping with the EHSO.

You will perform routine inspections of living areas, assist with investigations of misconduct, supervise performance, counsel, discipline, and train staff to required standards, and prepare reports as needed. Completion of SCDC Basic Training is required after hire.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in correctional, security, military, or police work preferred.
• A bachelor’s degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience.
• Must be certified by the SCDC training academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six months of entry.

Responsibilities

• Oversee subordinate security assigned to the D2 and supervise unit cleaning detail workers and housekeeping plan with EHSO.
• Make routine inspections of living areas for compliance with security, safety and sanitation standards.
• Assist with investigations of alleged misconduct by inmates and security personnel.
• Supervise shift personnel, evaluate performance, counsel, recommend disciplinary action, and train staff to required standards.
• Prepare reports as needed.
