Job summary

South Carolina Department of Corrections is seeking a seasoned supervisor to oversee security personnel (D2) and the unit cleaning detail, coordinating closely with EHSO on housekeeping plans.

The role includes routine inspections for security and sanitation, assisting investigations of misconduct, and supervising shifts, evaluating staff, counseling and disciplining when needed, and training teams to standard. Eight weeks of SCDC Basic Training are required upon hire.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma and 18 months related experience.
• Bachelor's degree may substitute for part of required experience.
• Must be certified by the SCDC training academy and complete basic supervisory course within 6 months of entry.
• Eight weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the D2 security team and the unit cleaning detail in coordination with EHSO.
• Conduct routine inspections of living areas for security, safety and sanitation.
• Assist investigations of alleged misconduct by inmates or staff.
• Supervise shift personnel, evaluate conduct and performance, counsel, discipline as needed, and train staff.
• Prepare reports as required.
