Job summary

Qualifications

• A high school diploma and relevant experience.
• A bachelor’s degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience.
• Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and complete the basic supervisory course within six months of entry into the position.

Responsibilities

• Supervise security personnel assigned to the unit under the direction of a shift lieutenant.
• Assist with employee evaluations, corrective actions, and counseling.
• Conduct unannounced inspections to ensure duties are performed properly.
• Brief and train all security personnel assigned to the unit.
• Perform routine inspections of the unit, security devices, and gates for safety and OSHA standards.
• Conduct investigations of misconduct and mediate to resolve at the lowest level.
• Assist in counts and prepare written reports as required.
