Job summary

The State of South Carolina, Department of Corrections, seeks a supervisory security professional to oversee the D2 unit, oversee cleaning detail workers, and coordinate housekeeping with EHSO. The role includes inspections of living areas for compliance with security, safety and sanitation standards, and assisting in investigations of misconduct by inmates and staff.

Responsibilities include supervising shifts, evaluating staff, providing counseling and disciplinary actions, and training

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent and relevant experience.
• A bachelor’s degree may substitute for part of the required experience.
• Must be certified by the SCDC training academy and complete the basic supervisory course within six months.

Responsibilities

• Supervise subordinate security assigned to the D2 unit and cleaning/housekeeping in conjunction with EHSO.
• Conduct routine inspections of living areas for security, safety and sanitation compliance.
• Assist in investigations of alleged misconduct by inmates and security personnel.
• Supervise shift personnel, conduct evaluations, counsel, discipline as needed, and train staff to required standards.
• Prepare reports as needed.
