Job summary

Bluestar Resort & Golf in Northern Virginia is seeking a Cook 2 to join the Food & Beverage team. You will prepare, cook, and assist in serving, reporting to Kitchen Manager or Executive Chef.

The position requires at least two years of cooking experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a current Food Handlers card. Must be flexible for evenings and weekends in a fast-paced environment; benefits include health/dental/life insurance, PTO, holidays, and 401(k).

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Current Food Handlers card required.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and operating instructions.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or team members.
• Must be self-motivated, proactive, and a team player.

Responsibilities

• Master one kitchen station and take responsibility for decisions.
• Ensure superior service standards for guests and staff.
• Respond quickly to guest or employee concerns and resolve issues.
• Follow daily cleaning schedule to maintain a sanitary kitchen.
• Read and follow cooking instructions and prepare meals.
• Wash, trim, and prepare vegetables and fruits for use.
• Prepare soups, salads, gravies, desserts, sauces, and casseroles as per recipes.
• Cook with ovens, broilers, grills, roasters, and steam kettles; adjust temperatures.
• Carve meats and portion foods; add gravies and sauces; garnish as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
