Job summary

Valar Atomics seeks a Controls Software Engineer to design, configure, test, and commission control software for nuclear fuel facilities. You will work on PLC/DCS programming, SCADA/HMI development, ISA-88 batch control, alarm management, safety logic, historian configuration, and MES/ERP/LIMS integration.

The role spans capital projects and ongoing plant operations, with emphasis on data integrity, clear documentation, and safety-first practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Computer, or Systems Engineering or related discipline.
• 3–7 years of controls software, PLC programming, or SCADA development experience in process industries.
• Hands-on PLC programming experience with at least one major platform using IEC 61131-3 languages.
• Hands-on SCADA experience on platforms such as Ignition, FactoryTalk, AVEVA, WinCC, or equivalent.
• Experience designing HMI displays to ISA-101/HPHMI principles.
• Experience developing ISA-88 batch control sequences.
• Experience configuring alarm management (ISA-18.2).
• Experience with plant historian systems and dashboards.
• Familiarity with ISA-95 enterprise-control integration concepts.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain PLC and DCS programs across platforms and IEC 61131-3.
• Create and configure SCADA apps; manage tags, drivers, scripting, and redundancy.
• Design HMI displays at local and supervisory levels per ISA-101/HPHMI.
• Develop ISA-88 batch control logic and batch layer supervision.
• Configure alarm systems per ISA-18.2; manage KPI reporting.
• Implement safety logic on SIS platforms per IEC 61511.
• Configure historian systems and dashboards for operations.
• Enable ISA-95 data exchange between control systems and MES/ERP/LIMS.
• Configure industrial protocols (OPC-UA, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus).
• Write SQL queries and Python scripts for data processing and testing.
