Job summary

Valar Atomics is redefining clean, high-temperature nuclear power with a pilot plant in Utah. We seek a Staff Controls Software Engineer to own PLC/DCS, SCADA, HMI, ISA-88 batch control, alarm systems, historian setup, and enterprise integration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronic, Computer, or Systems Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of controls software, PLC programming, or SCADA development in process industries.
• Hands-on PLC/SCADA experience with major platforms and IEC 61131-3 languages.
• Experience with ISA-88 batch control and ISA-18.2 alarm management.
• Familiarity with ISA-95 enterprise-control integration concepts and OT cybersecurity.

Responsibilities

• Develop, configure, test, and commission PLC/DCS software for nuclear fuel manufacturing.
• Lead technical direction, contractor oversight, and mentor junior engineers.
• Configure SCADA/HMI, batch control, alarm management, historian, and enterprise integration.
• Ensure safety logic per IEC 61511 and maintain control system documentation.
