Job summary

Essenti Talent is seeking a Controls Engineer II in Wyoming, MI to own the full lifecycle of custom automation and process control projects. You will design control architectures, program PLCs/HMI, and integrate robotics and vision systems while adhering to safety standards.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in a related field with 5+ years of automation experience, proficiency in Rockwell/Allen-Bradley platforms, and a willingness to travel up to 15% for site work and commissioning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent).
• 5+ years of direct industry experience designing, building, and programming custom industrial automation systems.
• Experience with industrial automation and electrical codes (NEC, NFPA 79, RIA TR R15.06).
• Experience with Rockwell Automation / Allen-Bradley platforms; other platforms preferred.
• Competent in AutoCAD Electrical; travel up to 15% domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement the controls architecture using PLCs and HMI systems.
• Integrate robotics, vision systems, VFDs, and servo applications into control logic.
• Configure network interfaces (DeviceNet, Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Profinet).
• Create electrical panels, schematics, layouts, and BOMs in AutoCAD Electrical.
• Develop robot paths and offline programming for deployment and integration.
• Lead engineering standards and reusable code libraries.
• Review customer specifications to ensure hardware and logic meet requirements.
• Coordinate on-site startup, commissioning, and client training.
• Perform safety assessments and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
