Job summary

Turner Construction Company is seeking a Safety Training Specialist to educate project teams on Environmental Health & Safety programs and enforce adherence to policies. You will build relationships with the project team and subcontractor safety representatives while developing and enforcing the overall safety program.

Responsibilities include coordinating preconstruction safety planning, auditing subcontractor safety, administering drug testing, and generating safety reports with actionable

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or related field and at least 2 years of construction safety experience.
• CHST certification or within two years of appointment.
• OSHA 30-hour training completed with current First Aid/CPR/BBP and AED certifications.
• Familiar with EH&S regulations at Federal, State, and Local levels.
• Ability to identify safety exposures and propose corrective actions.
• Strong leadership, teamwork, and communication skills with good presentation delivery.
• Willingness to travel limitedly and have reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Educate project teams on EH&S programs, policies, and procedures and ensure adherence.
• Promote safe work practices in line with laws and owner requirements.
• Build relationships with project teams and subcontractor safety reps.
• Develop and improve the overall project safety program.
• Enforce safety policies and implement corrective actions per regulations.
• Review subcontractor safety programs for compliance.
• Hold pre-construction planning meetings to review site safety and risk mitigation.
• Collect PTAs/JHAs and coordinate preconstruction meetings with subcontractors.
• Gather safety training records and administer orientation for new employees.
• Create safety reports, analyze metrics, and recommend improvements.
• Conduct safety meetings and record minutes, track toolbox talks.
• Perform safety audits and coordinate corrective actions with subcontractors.
• Evaluate training needs and reduce incident rates toward zero citations.
• Administer drug screening in accordance with company/owner requirements.
