Turner Construction Company in Columbus, OH seeks an Experienced Environmental Health & Safety professional to lead site safety programs on active construction projects and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.

The role focuses on educating teams, conducting risk assessments, overseeing training, and driving continuous safety improvements while maintaining collaboration with subcontractors and owner teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or related field; 2+ years of construction safety experience.
• CHST certification required or within two years of appointment.
• OSHA 30-hour training; First Aid/CPR/BBP and AED certifications.
• Familiar with safety/environmental principles and techniques.
• Familiar with Federal, State, and local EH&S regulations.
• Understanding of general construction operations.
• Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to take direction and follow through with commitments.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
• Analytical thinking, good judgement, and problem-solving.
• Limited travel may be required; reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Educate construction project team on EH&S programs and provide training on safe work practices.
• Promote safe work practices in line with regulations and owner requirements.
• Build relationships with project team and subcontractor safety representatives.
• Contribute to development of the overall project safety program.
• Enforce safety program and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure pre-planning for subcontractors and review subcontractor safety programs.
• Hold pre-construction planning meetings and review JHAs and risk mitigation.
• Gather Pre-Task Plans (PTPs) and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
• Coordinate Preconstruction meetings and ensure OSHA-compliant training and orientation.
• Create safety reports and analyze metrics; recommend improvements.
• Conduct safety meetings and issue minutes; maintain logs of toolbox talks.
• Conduct safety audits and drive corrective actions with subcontractors.
• Evaluate training needs and propose improvements.
• Assist in reducing incident rates and manage regulatory exposures.
• Administer drug screening program per requirements.
• Other duties as assigned.
