Job summary

Turner Construction Company — Philadelphia Main division — is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety trainer to educate project teams on EH&S programs and enforce safe work practices on steel and construction sites.

You will lead training sessions, review subcontractor safety programs, and coordinate preconstruction safety planning to reduce incidents and ensure regulatory compliance. A CHST and OSHA-30 certification are required, with minimal travel possible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or related field; minimum 2 years of related construction safety experience.
• CHST certification required or within two years of appointment
• Completed OSHA 30-hour training and maintain current First Aid/CPR/BBP and AED certifications
• Familiar with safety/environmental principles and techniques
• Familiar with Federal, State, and local Environmental Health & Safety regulations
• Familiar with general construction operations
• Ability to identify safety related exposures and propose corrective actions
• Demonstrate elements of leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
• Limited travel may be required, access to reliable transportation required

Responsibilities

• Educate project team on EH&S programs, policies, and procedures and provide training on safe work practices.
• Promote safe work practices and conditions in line with EH&S policies and regulations.
• Build relationships with project team and subcontractor Safety representatives.
• Contribute to development of overall project safety program.
• Enforce safety program and related policies, and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure proper pre-planning for subcontractors and trades.
• Review subcontractor safety programs for compliance.
• Hold pre-construction planning meetings to review site safety and risk mitigation plans.
• Gather Pre-Task Plans and Job Hazard Analyses for subcontractors.
• Coordinate preconstruction meetings and ensure training per OSHA standards; administer and record participation.
• Create safety reports, analyze metrics, and suggest improvements.
• Conduct safety meetings and issue minutes.
• Maintain log of toolbox talks and provide safety reports to supervisor.
• Conduct safety audits and coordinate corrective actions with subcontractors.
• Evaluate training needs and propose improvements.
• Contribute to reducing incident rates and manage regulatory exposures to zero citations.
• Administer drug screening program as required.
• Other duties as assigned.
