Job summary

Hensel Phelps is seeking a Safety Engineer to support the safety manager and project team on construction projects. The role involves implementing safety policies, planning activities, and addressing a range of safety concerns in field and office settings.

This is a safety sensitive position and requires coordination with multiple stakeholders. The candidate will assist with accident prevention plans, safety management tools, and crisis planning, while learning the construction process and

Qualifications

• A 4-year degree is preferred.
• Occupational Safety and Health degree suggested.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with stakeholders including Hensel Phelps staff, craft and trade partners.
• Assist the project superintendent in the accident prevention plan, safety management tool and crisis management plan.
• Participate in the six-step quality control/safety process including reviewing activity hazard analyses and follow-up inspections.
• Conduct project safety audits including project point files.
• Assist with OSHA inspections, as necessary.
• Assist with accidents and near-miss events including investigations, injury management and claim reporting.
• Monitor Hensel Phelps and trade partner safety performance.
• Attend awareness and competent person level courses.
• Learn the construction process and various roles and responsibilities of all positions.
