Job summary

Hensel Phelps is seeking a Safety Engineer to support the safety manager and project team on construction projects. The role involves applying safety policies, monitoring activities, and addressing unsafe conditions in field and office environments.

The position is safety sensitive and requires coordination with stakeholders, adherence to EM 385-1-1, and participation in a six-step quality control/safety process. A 4-year degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• A 4-year degree is preferred.
• Occupational Safety and Health degree suggested.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• Strong communication skills.
• MS Office Suite and engineering software experience (Excel templates, Prolog, Primavera, AutoDesk).

Responsibilities

• Communicate with stakeholders including Hensel Phelps staff and partners.
• Follow safety program, owner requirements, and EM 385-1-1 where applicable.
• Assist superintendent with accident prevention plan and safety tools.
• Participate in QA/safety process reviews and inspections.
• Support OSHA inspections and incident investigations.
• Monitor safety performance of company and trades.
• Attend safety courses and learn construction roles.
