Job summary

Hensel Phelps is seeking a Safety Engineer to support the safety manager and project teams on construction projects. The role involves applying safety policies, monitoring work activities, and addressing unsafe acts or conditions.

It is a safety sensitive position. Responsibilities include coordinating with site staff and trade partners, maintaining the accident prevention plan, and participating in the company’s safety and quality processes to ensure regulatory compliance and project safety

Qualifications

• A 4-year degree is preferred.
• Occupational Safety and Health degree suggested.
• Valid Driver’s License, required.
• Strong communication skills.
• Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel templates, Prolog, Primavera and AutoDesk Suite.

Responsibilities

• Effectively communicate with stakeholders including Hensel Phelps staff and craft/trade partners.
• Familiar with the safety and health program, owner requirements and applicable regulatory standards (e.g., EM 385-1-1).
• Assist the project superintendent with accident prevention plan and safety management tools.
• Participate in the six-step quality control/safety process including activity hazard analyses and follow-up inspections.
• Conduct project safety audits and assist with OSHA inspections and incident investigations.
• Monitor safety performance of Hensel Phelps and trade partners; support training and awareness initiatives.
• Attend safety courses and gain broader understanding of construction processes and roles.
