Job summary

Ahold Delhaize USA is seeking a Project Manager I to oversee store construction, expansion, and remodel projects from pre-construction through close-out. The role involves schedules, budget control, and coordination with internal departments to meet prototype standards and timelines.

The position requires 5–7 years in construction, a relevant bachelor’s degree, and willingness to travel 80% with a remote office day on Fridays. Applicants can reside in NC, SC, or VA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 5–7 years of experience in the construction industry.
• Knowledge of architectural designs/engineering concepts and processes.
• Proven ability to lead projects across contractors, developers/landlords, vendors and cross-functional partners.
• Practical construction technology and methods.
• Ability to develop, manage, and execute complex phased planning and schedules.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills; risk awareness and resolution.

Responsibilities

• Manage bidding and awarding processes with GC's/CM's and subcontractors for Food Lion-contracted projects.
• Coordinate bid documents, RFQs, and ensure accurate, timely bid packages.
• Oversee contracts, purchase orders, requisitions and invoicing for Food Lion-contracted work.
• Lead Change Authorization/Change Order processes and ensure timely payments.
• Monitor redline reviews of ARCH/MEP plans for codes and standards.
• Develop and implement cost-saving ideas and value engineering.
• Plan stores, expansions, remodels, and department rollouts with detailed milestones.
• Coordinate with Purchasing, Refrigeration, Real Estate, Preconstruction/A&E and Operations.
