Job summary

Ahold Delhaize USA is seeking a Project Manager I to lead new store, expansion and remodel projects from pre-construction through close-out. You will manage bidding, contracts, and change orders, coordinate with internal departments, and ensure delivery within prototype standards and timelines.

Applicants must reside in NC, SC, or VA and be prepared for 80% weekly travel with a remote office day on Fridays. A background in construction and strong leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 5-7 years in the construction industry.
• Knowledge of architectural designs/engineering concepts.
• Ability to lead projects across stakeholders.
• Ability to travel weekly.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Experience with ground-up/new store construction or remodels.

Responsibilities

• Manage bidding and awarding processes for GC/CM and subcontractors and oversee Food Lion-contracted projects.
• Compile bid documents and RFQ packages to minimize cost and change orders.
• Prepare contracts, purchase orders, processing, and payment of requisitions and invoices.
• Manage Construction Change Authorization/Change Order process; ensure timely payments.
• Manage bid, contract and requisition approval processes for Food Lion-contracted projects.
• Oversee redline reviews of ARCH/MEP plans for accuracy and codes.
• Provide value engineering feedback to Engineering on projects.
• Develop and implement cost-saving ideas and methods.
• Plan new store, expansion, remodel projects with detailed phase plans and milestones.
• Coordinate with Purchasing, Refrigeration, Real Estate, Preconstruction/A&E, Operations, and other stakeholders.
• Oversee construction activities to ensure timely completion and compliance with standards.
• For developer/landlord-built projects, monitor performance and turnover requirements.
• Issue complete period budget reports to Senior Management.
• Review pending change orders and their budget impact.
• Update period budget reports and align with committed costs.
