Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Project Engineer to assist Project Managers in ensuring installed work meets plans and specifications. You will help review shop drawings, coordinate with architects, and track progress on schedules.

The role requires a civil engineering or construction management background, strong communication, and familiarity with safety standards. On-site duties accompany a broad range of coordination tasks and cost-saving inputs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field, or equivalent education/experience.
• Strong written and oral communication skills; clear, effective expression.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Familiarity with OSHA safety requirements.
• Working knowledge of Word and Excel.
• Flexibility to adjust plans to reach goals.
• Team-oriented and cooperative work style.
• Desire to learn quickly and apply new information.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers to ensure work meets plans and specs.
• Review shop drawings and submittals for compliance.
• Coordinate with architect for constructability and materials.
• Attend and take notes for project team meetings; distribute minutes.
• Publish weekly progress reports and track information flow.
• Update project schedules and liaise on shop drawings milestones.
• Assist in bidding and scope of work for trade contractors.
• Support superintendent in scheduling and field procedures.
