Job summary

Turner Construction Company in Houston is offering a Summer Internship/Co-Op on an active construction site. The role provides hands-on exposure to project management, scheduling, document control, and safety procedures.

You will work under supervision of Project Engineer/Manager, assisting with coordination, RFIs, submittals, and cost-related tasks, while applying classroom knowledge to real-world projects in Houston.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited degree program (minimum 1 year completed) in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field.
• Must be 18+ to work on site.
• Desire to learn construction management and construction industry.
• Commitment to standard business hours and overtime as needed.
• Strong communication skills, written and verbal in English.
• Ability to read and comprehend written information.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Support project team with meeting coordination, material tracking, file management, document control, and progress reporting.
• Assist with project site signage and supervisor instructions.
• Provide progress reports to supervisor and learn about construction management.
• Relate and apply academic knowledge to work activities.
• Maintain professional relationships with employees, customers, clients, and subcontractors.
• Participate in training, meetings, and orientation.
• Comply with safety protocols and PPE requirements.
• Assist with start-up activities, project engineer/manager support, and learn processes.
• Assist with RFIs, submittals, and contract requirements information.
• Assist with estimates for changes in work from subcontractors.
• Attend project site visits and document field activities.
• Assist with correspondence to Architects, Engineers, vendors, and subcontractors.
