Job summary

Turner Construction Company is seeking a motivated Intern/Co-Op to support day-to-day activities on active construction projects and gain foundational knowledge in project management, finances, safety, and coordination. You will work under supervision on-site or in a main office, with opportunities to earn educational credits where applicable.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a college degree program with at least 1 year completed.
• Must be 18 years of age to work on site.
• Desire to learn construction management and industry.
• Commitment to standard hours and overtime as needed.
• Strong verbal and written communication in English.
• Ability to read and comprehend written information.
• Accountability for own actions and activities.
• Proactive, curious, and eager to learn and participate.
• Able to work independently or in a team with supervision.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meeting coordination, material tracking, file management, document control, and progress reporting.
• Follow project site signage and supervisor instructions.
• Provide progress reports and learn about construction management.
• Relate classroom knowledge to on-site activities.
• Maintain professional relationships with staff, clients, and subcontractors.
• Participate in training, meetings, and orientation.
• Assist with safety program compliance and PPE.
• Assist with start-up activities and support to project engineers/managers.
• Assist with RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings processing.
• Assist with estimates for changes in work from subcontractors.
• Attend site visits to observe field activities.
• Prepare communications to architects, engineers, vendors, and subs.
• Support with schedules communication to trades and subcontractors.
• Assist with quantity take-offs and studies using traditional or CAD tools.
• Distribute subcontractor proposals and assist with close-out prep.
