Job summary

Accura Engineering & Consulting Services, Inc. in Mobile, AL seeks a Construction Inspector - Welding/Coating to inspect welding, coatings, and bolting on federal projects, ensuring compliance with plans and specifications.

The ideal candidate holds AWS CWI, ASNT NDT credentials, and NACE/ SSPC coating inspector Level 1 or higher, with extensive steel fabrication experience and knowledge of QA/SCC processes. RMS experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School graduate with 5 years of experience in construction welding inspections and 2 years in coating inspections and structural bolting inspections.
• AWS CWI certification per AWS QC1 with minimum 5 years related to steel fabrication.
• ASNT qualification for nondestructive testing.
• NACE Level I or SSPC Protective Coatings Inspector Level 1 or higher with 2+ years in coating inspection/testing.
• AASHTO G4.2 certification for structural bolting inspections (preferred).
• Experience with Three-Phase QC/Inspection process and USACE EM 385-1-1 is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Observe, inspect, and report on construction projects for compliance with plans and specifications.
• Perform welding inspections relating to steel fabrication.
• Inspect coatings and test coating systems and methods of application.
• Review QA and safety plans to ensure contractor compliance.
• Provide recommendations to government personnel regarding contract plans and specs.
• Monitor contractor’s quality system and administer the three-phase inspection process.
• Deliver and review change orders, RFIs, and submittals.
