Job summary

Accura Engineering and Consulting Services, Inc. is seeking a qualified Construction Inspector for welding and coating oversight at federal facilities. The role requires extensive inspections of workmanship, materials, and installation in accordance with plans and specifications.

The incumbent will perform welding inspections on steel fabrication, coating inspections, and structural bolting evaluations, while adhering to QA and safety plans and using the RMS system for documentation.

Qualifications

• 5 years of construction welding inspections experience.
• 2 years of coating inspections and structural bolting inspections.
• AWS Welding Inspector certification in conformance with QC1.
• NDT personnel qualified to ASNT.
• Coating inspections training with NACE/ SSPC Level I+ or higher.
• Experience with RMS and three-phase QC/Inspection processes.

Responsibilities

• Observe, inspect, and report on federal facility construction workmanship, materials, installation, and methods.
• Perform construction welding inspections relating to steel fabrication.
• Apply fabrication shop practices including storage, handling, cutting, bending, machining, fit-up, surface prep, welding, bolting, erection, and coatings.
• Perform coating inspections and testing of various coating systems and methods of application.
• Perform structural bolting inspections and testing of bolting methods and installation.
• Provide recommendations to Government personnel regarding contract plans and specifications for all construction phases.
• Monitor contractor’s QA and safety plans and administer the three-phase inspection process.
• Provide surveillance at construction sites and assist owner in problem resolution.
• Review and review change orders, modification, RFIs, and submittals.
• Monitor contractor’s schedule and ensure RMS usage.
