Job summary

Vaco by Highspring seeks an Accounts Receivable / Collections Specialist to join our accounting team in Hartford, CT. You will own a growing portfolio of past-due accounts, perform daily collection activities, and drive timely payments to improve AR aging.

The ideal candidate has experience in accounts receivable and collections, comfort with aging reports and ERP systems, and a professional, persistent communication style to resolve balances with customers.

Qualifications

• Experience in accounts receivable, collections, credit or related accounting function.
• Construction industry experience preferred.
• Strong B2B collections experience with regular outbound calls.
• Experience reviewing AR aging reports.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems (NetSuite, Sage Intacct, D365) or comparable platforms.
• Comfortable in high-volume, follow-up-driven environment.
• Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
• Professional and confident communication regarding past-due balances.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of past-due accounts receivable and drive collection efforts through resolution.
• Make consistent daily outbound collection calls and email follow-ups regarding outstanding balances.
• Review AR aging reports and prioritize collection activity based on delinquency and balances.
• Contact customers regarding overdue invoices and obtain payment commitments.
• Track collection activity, customer responses, payment promises, and follow-ups.
• Research outstanding balances and assist with resolving invoice and account discrepancies.
• Partner with internal departments to address billing or payment-related issues.
• Maintain accurate account notes and documentation of collection activity.
• Follow up on payment commitments and escalate significantly aged or unresolved balances when appropriate.
• Help reduce outstanding receivables and improve AR aging health.
