Phipps Houses in Far Rockaway, Queens, is seeking a Concierge for a new development. You will maintain a professional presence, manage guest interactions, monitor access and package handling, and support building operations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a strong professional presence and be well spoken with residents and guests.
• Enter and track work orders submitted by residents or staff.
• Maintain proper access and security of the building, monitor cameras and entrances.
• Recognize and elevate security or building issues in a timely manner to management.
• Screen visitors and announce welcomed visitors via intercom.
• Assist with retrieving packages for tenants from the package room.
• Ensure package room is maintained in an orderly manner.
• Assist with other duties assigned by management.

Job description

Phipps Houses is one of the nation’s oldest and largest not-for-profit developer/owners of affordable housing. It is a multi-faceted real estateorganization, involved in the development, finance, construction and asset management of new and rehabilitated multi-family housing for low to middleincome New Yorkers. Through its subsidiary, Phipps Houses Services, Inc., it conducts residential and some commercial property management, and it’stax exempt affiliate, Phipps Neighborhoods, provides human services to its development communities.

We are seeking qualified candidates for the position of Concierge at one of our newest developments located in Far Rockaway Queens.

Concierge - $22.3319 per hour – 40 hours per week

Job Responsibilities

• Candidate must maintain a strong professional presence and be well spoken and articulate in their interactions with residents and their guests.
• Must be able to enter and track work orders into the system that are submitted by residents or staff members.
• Primary responsibility for maintaining proper access and security of the building for residents, employee and guests including monitoring of security camera feeds and in-person entranceways into the premises.
• Strong observational and diagnostic skills to proactively recognize and elevate possible security or other building issues in a timely manner to resident manager.
• Properly screen all visitors to the building and announce welcomed visitors via the building’s intercom system.
• Assist with retrieving packages for tenants from the package room per established protocols
• Ensure package room is maintained in an orderly manner
• Assist with other duties that may be assigned by management

Qualifications:

Experience

• Prior experience as a concierge in residential building preferred.
• Must be proficient with a computer and be familiar with using Microsoft Outlook
• Prior direct experience and proven track record in a similar role preferred

• Strong customer service skills and managing tenant relationships in an extremely professional and courteous manner.

• Ability to take direction from Superintendent, Facilities Director and Management staff.
