Job summary

University of Southern California (Keck Hospital) is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support nursing staff in delivering patient care, handling clerical tasks, and maintaining unit environment. Qualifications

• High School or equivalent.
• Pref 1 year Experience in a health care setting.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CA DPH).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association.
• Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) if no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date.

Responsibilities

• Responds to patient call within 10 minutes and anticipates patient needs.
• Proactively makes rounds to reduce patient calls and maintains positive behavior toward patients and visitors.
• Provides RN with data related to patient assessment and contributes to the plan of care.
• Performs essential skills in line with MD orders and RN direction to support patient care.
• Documents care provided, including vital signs, intake/output, and equipment used.
• Collaborates with the RN at the start and throughout the shift regarding patient care and data collection.
