Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Patient Access Representative to be the first point of contact for patients, handling scheduling, registration, benefit verification, pre-certification and financial clearance with compassion and accuracy.

This role requires strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work Saturdays and Sundays from 7am to 3pm. A high school diploma is required, and some college is helpful; healthcare or insurance familiarity is preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; excellent telephone etiquette.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with patients, physicians, clinical and non-clinical staff and insurance companies.
• Strong organizational skills; attention to detail.
• Ability to work under stress, meet deadlines and maintain accuracy.
• Knowledgeable with various computer systems; able to use a 10-key calculator and keyboard.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with scheduling, registration, and pre-certification processes.
• Verify benefits and perform financial clearance, including pre-visit collection.
• Ensure accurate patient data is captured and entered into the system.
