Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent.
• Prior experience in a business setting providing customer service, while simultaneously processing and verifying electronic demographic, financial or other business-related information and data.
• Able to work successfully in a fast-paced, multi-task environment, where some independent decision making is necessary.
• Able to process electronic information and data accurately and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Registers patients presenting for visits and explains the registration process.
• Processes patient co-payments, co-insurance, deductibles and balances due; safeguards cash handling and reconciles cash drawer.
• Completes the Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire and adjusts coverage accordingly.
• Instructs patients and obtains signatures on consent and financial documents; scans and files documents.
• Counsels patients on non-covered services and ABNs; obtains signatures where required.
• Maintains a smooth registration flow and informs patients of delays to ensure a positive experience.
• Completes registrations on inpatient units as needed.
• Addresses patient concerns and potential safety issues in line with procedures.
• Secures confidential patient information at the desk and waiting area.
