Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is hiring for a healthcare assistant role in Minnesota. The 24 hour per week position runs 3pm–11:30pm with rotating weekends and holidays, under RN supervision.

You will observe patients, support rounds, ensure safety, and handle a range of clerical and caregiving tasks to maintain high-quality care. Required are a High School diploma or GED and BLS within 3 months of hire, plus de-escalation training during orientation.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED, or near completion of Health Sciences program.
• BLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
• Completes hospital-approved de-escalation training during orientation.

Responsibilities

• Direct and continuous observation of patient at a distance no greater than arm’s length.
• Participate in patient rounding as directed by the RN.
• Ensure environmental safety for patient.
• Answer call lights and escalate patient care issues to the RN.
• Restock department supplies and maintain stations.
• Transport patients within the department and to in-hospital locations as needed.
• Clean patient equipment following procedures.
• Complete patient safety sitter competency and required documentation.
• Notify RN of changes in patient behavior and participate in unit quality efforts.
• Respect cultural beliefs and utilize interpreter services as needed.
