Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification within 3 months of hire.
• Hospital-approved de-escalation training during unit orientation.
• Ability to observe patients closely and communicate changes to the RN.

Responsibilities

• Direct and continuous observation of patient within arm's reach.
• Participate in patient rounding as directed by the RN.
• Ensure environmental safety for patient.
• Respond to call lights and route issues to RN.
• Restock department supplies and station precautions.
• Transport patients within the department and to other locations.
• Clean patient equipment per the designated process.
• Complete patient safety sitter competency.
• Document all patient care activities.
• Communicate changes in patient behavior to the RN.
• Assist with unit quality improvement studies as directed.
• Respect cultural beliefs; use interpreters for LEP patients.
• Follow safety rules and hospital policies.
