Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a part-time, 32-hour per week caregiver to provide observation and patient support under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include monitoring patients, assisting with rounds, ensuring environmental safety, and promptly communicating any care needs to the RN.

POSITION REQUIRES High School diploma or GED (or near completion of Health Sciences program) and BLS certification within 3 months of hire.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED, or enrolled and near completion of a Health Sciences program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 3 months of hire.
• Completes hospital-approved de-escalation training during unit-based orientation.

Responsibilities

• Direct and continuous observation of patients at arm's length.
• Participates in patient rounding as directed by the RN.
• Ensures environmental safety for patients.
• Answers call lights and routes patient care issues to the RN.
• Restocks department supplies and precaution stations.
• Transports patients within the department and to in-hospital locations as needed.
• Cleans patient equipment following designated processes.
• Completes patient safety sitter competency and all required documentation.
• Communicates changes in patient behavior to the RN.
• Contributes to unit quality improvement activities and respects patient cultural beliefs, using interpreter services as needed.
