Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health seeks a patient care aide to support nursing staff. You will directly observe patients, assist with rounds, and maintain safety and cleanliness in the unit. Duties include answering calls, transporting patients, restocking supplies, and documenting care.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED, BLS within 3 months, and de-escalation training during orientation. Candidates must be able to work a 24-hour schedule with rotating weekends and holidays, in a hospital

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• BLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
• De-escalation training to be completed during orientation.

Responsibilities

• Direct and monitor patient at arm's length.
• Participate in patient rounding as directed by RN.
• Ensure environmental safety for patients.
• Answer call lights and relay issues to RN.
• Restock department supplies and stations.
• Transport patients within the department as needed.
• Complete patient care documentation.
• Communicate changes in patient behavior to RN.
• Support unit quality improvement activities.
• Be culturally respectful and utilize interpreter services as needed.
