Job summary

Monarch Healthcare in North Carolina seeks a Developmental Specialist to support individuals in achieving personal dreams and goals. This role focuses on person-centered supports, community integration, and rights advocacy, guided by agency policies and state regulations.

You will assess needs, promote self-determination, provide day-to-day assistance, and collaborate with staff to implement individualized plans. Sleepovers may be required; transportation and safety responsibilities are included.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Valid USA driver's license.
• Experience with individuals with mental health diagnosis is optional.

Responsibilities

• Assess each person for hopes, dreams, and desires and provide supports to facilitate achievement.
• Help individuals develop relationships in their community and with their natural supports.
• Assist individuals in participating fully in their community according to their interests.
• Protect and promote the rights of individuals; assist in advocacy and use of personal advocates.
• Provide emotional, physical, and medical support as needed.
• Foster person-centered, positive relationships that promote self-determination.
• Contribute input into assessment and planning processes and develop each person's plan.
• Execute plans and required documentation (goal completion, actions, incidents, timesheets).
• Complete daily progress notes and communication logs to track appointments, goals, and interests.
• Assist with day-to-day home operations (housekeeping, meals, laundry, shopping, lawn care, vehicle cleanliness).
• Drive and arrange transportation as required.
• Help individuals with emergency procedures and personal safety; conduct drills and safety checks.
• Mentor new/current staff during orientation and training.
• Sleepovers at residential settings may be required.
• Attend meetings and trainings; maintain required certifications.
• Follow agency policies and state/federal regulations; adhere to service definitions.
• Handle additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
