Job summary

Monarch is hiring a Developmental Specialist in Charlotte, NC, to support individuals with mental health needs and developmental disabilities in achieving personal goals. The role emphasizes person-centered planning, advocacy, daily living supports, and community participation.

You will work Monday-Friday, 2pm-10pm, with up to 40 hours per week. Sleepover duties may be required; extensive documentation and training are part of the job.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Valid driver's license is required to transport clients.
• Experience working with children or adults with mental health diagnoses or developmental disabilities or substance use disorders is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess each person receiving services for their hopes, dreams, and desires and provide supports that facilitate achievement.
• Support people in developing relationships in their community and with their natural supports.
• Assist people in participating fully in their community consistent with the person’s interests.
• Ensure the rights of each person receiving services are protected and promoted; assist with advocacy skills.
• Provide support to meet emotional, physical, and medical needs of each person supported.
• Facilitate person-centered, effective relationships that promote self-determination.
• Provide input into assessment and planning; develop the individual’s plan and implement it.
• Complete required documentation including goals, actions toward outcomes, incident reports, and timesheets.
• Complete daily progress notes and communication log to assure appointments, goals, and interests are met.
• Assist with day-to-day home operations: housekeeping, meals, laundry, shopping, lawn care, vehicle cleanliness, maintenance.
• Drive and travel as required; arrange transportation for people receiving services.
• Assist with emergency procedures and personal safety; conduct drills and practice safety.
• Assist new staff with orientation, mentoring, and training.
• Sleepover at a residential setting may be required.
• Attend and participate in meetings and training; maintain certifications.
• Follow agency policies and state/federal regulations related to the program.
• Complete other relevant responsibilities as assigned.
