Job summary

Monarch Healthcare in North Carolina is seeking a Developmental Specialist to support individuals with mental health or developmental needs in achieving personal goals and community participation. You will help build relationships, ensure rights are protected, and provide comprehensive daily living support.

The role requires driving as needed, a valid US driver’s license, and a willingness to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a flexible, person-centered environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Valid driver’s license (USA).
• Experience with individuals with mental health diagnoses, intellectual/developmental disabilities, or substance use disorders.

Responsibilities

• Assess people’s hopes and goals and provide supports to help achieve them.
• Help individuals develop relationships in their community and with natural supports.
• Assist individuals to participate fully in their community according to their interests.
• Protect and promote the rights of people served; support advocacy and personal advocates.
• Provide emotional, physical, and medical support as needed.
• Foster person-centered, positive relationships and self-determination.
• Contribute to assessment, planning, and implementation of individual plans.
• Complete required documentation and progress notes timely.
• Support daily living activities: housekeeping, meals, laundry, shopping, and vehicle upkeep.
• Drive and travel as required; arrange transportation as needed.
• Assist with emergency procedures and safety training; conduct drills.
• Mentor and train new staff; participate in meetings and trainings.
• Overnight sleepovers may be required.
