Job summary

The Northeast Arc helps people with disabilities become full participants in the community. The Skills Trainer supports the MassHealth PCA program, guiding applicants through the process and educating them on managing their care in home and community settings.

This role blends office and fieldwork, building meaningful relationships while coordinating with nurses, therapists, and administrative staff to deliver high‑quality service.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• BA/BS in Human Service field preferred.
• Experience with individuals with disabilities preferred; bilingual a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assess personal care needs with a nurse/occupational therapist and prepare PCA applications.
• Teach individuals how to hire/train/pay their PCAs after approval.
• Provide skills training to consumers on the PCA program, including employer responsibilities and payroll.
• Conduct home visits to assess needs and provide in‑person support.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the program database.
• Support consumers and surrogates through ongoing case management.
