Job summary

YMCA in Texas seeks a Membership Representative to welcome guests, promote memberships, and deliver outstanding service. You will help members connect with programs, maintain lobby organization, and support administration at the membership desk.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, 6 months of customer service experience, and certifications within specified timelines. Expect a fast-paced, friendly environment focused on community impact.

Qualifications

• Requires a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
• Prefer a minimum of 6 months customer service, sales, or related experience.
• Certifications required within the first week of hire: Redwoods Bloodborne Pathogens and Hazardous Communications.
• Certifications required within the first 60 days of hire: YMCA approved basic life saving skills such as CPR, First Aid, AED, and Emergency Oxygen.
• Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
• Must be able to word process at 45 wpm and have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Must become proficient within 30 days in the use of ActiveNet.
• Job requires occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Responds to the individual needs of the other person.
• Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the Y and on the phone, contributing to member retention.
• Conducts interviews and/or tours responsive to the needs of prospective members; sells memberships.
• Develops and maintains positive relationships with volunteers and members and helps members connect with one another and the Y.
• Welcomes, connects, and supports members, and invites them to get involved and give back to the community.
• Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
• Applies all YMCA policies dealing with member services.
• May hand out locker keys and towels; may monitor the locker rooms as required.
• Provides administrative support to the membership desk: inputting new memberships, looking up accounts, inputting subsidies/billing, and data adjustments.
• Keeps informed of branch activities & schedules to provide exceptional member service.
• Accepts donations and Y Partners Campaign contributions, manages a daily till, secures change for cash box, and processes end-of-shift controls for review/audit.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
