Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago is seeking a Community Concierge, Manager on Duty to support the concierge team at the local Community Hub and deliver best-in-class customer service. You will engage with community members, offer solutions and programs, and help others discover opportunities within the YMCA.

Pay is $18.00 per hour with opportunities for growth, and the role requires weekday evening availability. Benefits include health, dental, vision, PTO, and more to support work-life balance.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends/holidays.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Willingness to complete YMCA training and certifications.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Manager on Duty and provide operational leadership at the front desk.
• Greet community members and guests, making them feel welcome.
• Monitor hub safety and respond to emergencies.
• Answer phones and email inquiries.
• Manage customer transactions and address concerns.
• Coordinate facility operations with leadership to keep spaces clean.
• Anticipate needs to provide exceptional customer experience.
• Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed.

Scope Of Responsibilities

• Serve as Manager on Duty and provide operational leadership, including front-desk operations, attendance, and administration
• Greet community members and guests and make them feel welcome and engaged
• Monitor Community Hub for safety and service interventions and serve as first responder for emergency situations
• Answer phones and email inquiries
• Actively manage customer transactions and resolve opportunities and address concerns
• Support facility operations by partnering with local Community Hub leadership to ensure community spaces are clean at all times and record maintenance issues for resolution
• Anticipate individuals' needs in order to accommodate them and provide an exceptional customer experience
• Maintain inventory of supplies and order new stock, as needed

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age
• Earned high school diploma or GED
• Ability to work flexible hours, weekends, and/or holidays, as needed
• Top-notch verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Must work weekends
• Willingness and ability to complete all mandatory YMCA training and certifications, along with ongoing or additional training as assigned by the supervisor, within established timeframe.
