Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago is seeking a Community Concierge to greet guests, answer inquiries, and manage transactions at the front desk. You will work closely with Community Hub leadership to maintain clean and welcoming spaces and to promote YMCA programs and memberships.

This role emphasizes exceptional customer service, flexible scheduling, and active participation in ensuring a positive community experience across Y facilities.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Willingness to complete YMCA training and certifications as required.

Responsibilities

• Greet community members and guests and make them feel welcome and engaged.
• Answer phones and emails and assist with inquiries.
• Actively manage customer transactions and memberships.
• Support facility operations and partner with Community Hub leadership to keep spaces clean.
• Anticipate guest needs to deliver exceptional service.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and reorder as needed.
• Ensure front desk runs smoothly and efficiently.
• Conduct hub tours and promote memberships.

Community Concierge

Scope and Responsibility

• Greet community members and guests and make them feel welcome and engaged
• Answer phones and email inquiries
• Actively manage customer transactions
• Support facility operations by partnering with local Community Hub leadership to ensure community spaces are clean at all times
• Anticipate individual's needs in order to accommodate them and provide an exceptional customer experience
• Maintain inventory of supplies and order new stock, as needed
• Ensure front desk operations run smoothly and efficiently
• Conduct hub tours responsive to the needs of prospective customers; sell memberships

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age
• Earned high school diploma or GED
• Ability to work flexible hours, weekends, and/or holidays, as needed
• Top-notch verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Willingness and ability to complete all mandatory YMCA training and certifications, along with ongoing or additional training as assigned by the supervisor, within established timeframe.

- Supports the YMCA’s commitment to child abuse prevention by:

• Reporting any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to your supervisor
• Following all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to the monitoring and supervision of children
• Reporting any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor
• Completing all child abuse prevention training as required
