Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago is inviting applications for a Part Time Community Concierge, Manager on Duty at Lake View YMCA. The role focuses on welcoming members, guiding daily operations, and ensuring safety and service excellence in the community hub.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Able to work flexible hours, including weekends/holidays.
• Strong verbal and written communication, with customer-service mindset.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Manager on Duty and provide operational leadership at front desk.
• Greet members and guests, ensuring a welcoming environment.
• Monitor hub for safety and respond to emergencies as needed.
• Answer phones and emails and handle customer inquiries.
• Assist with facility operations, inventory, and issue resolution.
• Support space cleanliness and maintenance reporting.

Scope and Responsibility

• Serve as Manager on Duty and provide operational leadership, including front-desk operations, attendance, and administration
• Greet community members and guests and make them feel welcome and engaged
• Monitor Community Hub for safety and service interventions and serve as first responder for emergency situations
• Answer phones and email inquiries
• Actively manage customer transactions and resolve opportunities and address concerns
• Support facility operations by partnering with local Community Hub leadership to ensure community spaces are clean at all times and record maintenance issues for resolution
• Anticipate individuals needs in order to accommodate them and provide an exceptional customer experience
• Maintain inventory of supplies and order new stock, as needed

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age
• Earned high school diploma or GED
• Ability to work flexible hours, weekends, and/or holidays, as needed
• Top-notch verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Bilingual, English/Spanish highly preferred

• Reporting any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to your supervisor
• Following all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to the monitoring and supervision of children
• Reporting any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor
• Completing all child abuse prevention training as required
