Job summary

Self-Help Services Corp in Morganton, NC is seeking a Universal Banker to join our team. You will be the first point of contact for members, handle teller duties, open new accounts, and promote credit union products tailored to member needs.

The role requires at least 2 years in retail banking, cash handling, and strong interpersonal skills; flexibility to travel to cover branches and work evenings or weekends as needed. We offer competitive nonprofit compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and at least 2 years of retail banking experience.
• Experience in cash handling and opening accounts.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Word and Excel.
• Willingness to travel to cover other branches and work evenings/weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Member servicing and cash handling: greet members, open accounts, process deposits/withdrawals/loans, respond to inquiries, balance cash drawers, and assist with MSR duties.
• Consumer lending: manage loan process from initiation to closing, assess eligibility, disclosures, and coordination with underwriter.
• Business development/other: promote products, assist with admin tasks, supervise MSR staff in absence, and support branch management.
