Job summary

Self-Help, located in Asheville, NC, is seeking a Universal Banker to join our team. The role focuses on member servicing, cash handling, and promoting credit union products while opening new membership accounts and building relationships with members.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years of experience in retail banking including cash handling.
• Strong commitment to our mission – creating economic opportunity for traditionally underserved communities.
• Preference for working in organizations that place priority on teamwork and collaboration.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to form and maintain strong relationships with customers.
• Knowledge of basic financial products and ability to discuss consumer loans with lending authority; proficient with Word and Excel.
• Willingness to travel to cover other branches and work evenings and weekends; English/Spanish fluency preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to members’ inquiries by phone, email, or in person.
• Promote credit union products based on members’ needs.

WHAT You'll do:

WHAT You'll need:

• High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years of experience in retail banking including experience in cash handling and opening accounts.
• Strong commitment to our mission – creating economic opportunity for traditionally underserved communities.
• Preference for working in organizations that place priority on teamwork and collaboration Keen attention to detail. Good knowledge and understanding of credit products including the ability to effectively and independently approve consumer loans up to lending authority. Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to form and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Knowledge of basic economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets and banking. Analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with Word and Excel. May be required to travel to cover other branches and work evenings and weekends. English/Spanish fluency preferred. Ability and willingness to work beyond normal work hours, as needed.

Anticipated compensation range $43,310- 64,964
