Job summary

Park National Bank seeks an experienced underwriting professional to apply the bank’s credit culture and policies, analyze cash flows, collateral and management risks, and assess repayment capacity for loan requests. You will independently underwrite in compliance with regulations, accept borrower's requests, determine declinations or allowances, and propose appropriate loan structures with risk grades.

This role supports portfolio management and loan committee decisions.

Responsibilities

• Apply credit culture and policies; act as policy expert
• Compile financial data for credit risk assessments (cash flow, collateral, industry, management)
• Underwrite in line with regulations, policy, and law
• Accept credit requests and decide to proceed or decline
• Recommend risk grades with justification including risks and mitigants
• Assist in portfolio management and annual review processes
• Spread financial statements and tax returns; analyze historical performance
• Develop loan covenants and structures; provide advance warning of credit risk
• Assist in training junior analysts; may manage other analysts
• Review appraisals for market and credit risks
• Coordinate with outside counsel on loan documentation
• Participate in customer meetings; inspect properties; assist in loan closings
• Present loan requests to approvers/loan committee
• Obtain and evaluate third-party borrower information
• Prepare pertinent reports and track financial data
• Work with lenders on classified assets and reporting
• Maintain compliance and risk management awareness
• Deliver high level service per standards
• Other duties as assigned
