Job summary

First Bank Midwest in Indiana is seeking a Commercial Banking Officer to solicit, originate, and service a broad range of commercial loans, including SBA loans, and to build strong relationships with business clients.

You will gather financial information for underwriting, present loans for approval, guide the loan process from origination to closing, monitor portfolios, ensure regulatory compliance, and thoughtfully cross-sell Treasury, Wealth, and other banking services.

Qualifications

• Experience soliciting and underwriting commercial loans.
• Ability to network with COIs and develop business opportunities.
• Knowledge of SBA loan products and cross-selling banking services.

Responsibilities

• Actively engage COIs to develop new business opportunities through networking and marketing activities.
• Generate business through a mix of cold calling, community involvement, and frequent client contact.
• Research market segment potential for loan products and develop targeted marketing plans to reach potential clients.
• Determine and recommend other financial services to clients, such as Treasury Management, Wealth Management, and Retail services, and cross-sell other bank services as opportunities arise.
• Consult with potential and existing clients to determine financial needs and counsel applicants in selecting the best product to meet those needs.
• Gather and review financial information needed for underwriting of commercial loans and solicit required information from clients as needed.
• Assess viability of client business plans and review underwriting to determine structure, pricing, and terms; complete narratives for loan presentations.
• Make alternative recommendations to borrowers who are creditworthy but may not qualify for the requested loan.
• Present loans for approval to the Senior Loan Committee, Officer Loan Committee, and Directors’ Loan Committee as applicable.
• Guide the entire loan process from origination to closing.
• Monitor the existing loan portfolio for financial reporting, covenant requirements, payment performance, and overall credit performance of client relationships.
• Ensure all required documentation of the lending process is maintained and available.
• Accountable for all state and federal regulations and bank policies/procedures that apply to this position and department.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
