Job summary

Farmers Home Furniture is seeking a debt-collection specialist to locate, notify, and secure payments from customers with delinquent accounts. You will contact customers, review terms, document activity, and post payments while maintaining cash drawers and CRM records.

The role includes travel to customers’ homes as needed, handling late notices, and preparing paperwork for potential legal action under guidance. Valid driver’s license and organizational skills are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; six months experience in payment collections or general office procedures.
• Must possess and maintain a valid State Driver’s License.
• Ability to review terms, communicate with customers, and document activity.

Responsibilities

• Sends text messages, mails form letters and/or late charge notices to customers to encourage payment of delinquent accounts.
• Confer with customers by text or telephone attempting to determine reason for overdue payment, reviewing terms of sales, service, or credit contract with customer in an attempt to gain payment.
• Documents all correspondence and attempted correspondence with customers concerning accounts.
• Receives payments and posts amount paid to customer’s account.
• Maintains and balances their assigned cash drawer; drawer must be locked when unattended, key with Store Manager.
• Travels to customers’ homes to collect late payments; assist with repossessions with Store Manager approval.
• Prepares paperwork prior to legal action for severely delinquent accounts.
• Initiates credit investigations by telephone for new credit applicants under the direction of the Credit Manager.
• Logs details of work activities daily, weekly, and monthly.
• Receives various documentation and reports; reviews, processes, responds, distributes, files, maintains, and/or takes action as appropriate.
• Operates PC, printer, calculator, copy machines, telephone, etc., including word processing, spreadsheets, databases.
• Logs customer service requests into CRM and schedules merchandise repairs.
• Assist customers on sales floor as assigned; participate in sales floor rotation, greet customers, demonstrate products, complete sales write ups, update CRM.
• Maintains an acceptable sales quota as established in store goals.
• Complies with Store Operations Customer Service Counter and Telephone Standards.
• Upholds and promotes H.O.M.E. values.
