Job summary

First Solar Inc. is seeking a Productions Coater Technician I to begin the photovoltaic semiconductor coating process. You will safely operate equipment, manage materials, and conduct basic quality checks to ensure high-quality solar modules are produced at the required rate.

The role involves process monitoring with SPC, basic maintenance, and on‑the‑job training of teammates. A high school diploma or GED is required, with preference for technical training or 2+ years in manufacturing.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certificate preferred.
• 2+ years of manufacturing experience.
• External candidates: HS diploma; internal candidates: 60 internal credits or equivalent.
• Military experience in relevant fields may be considered as qualifying.
• Experience in warehousing, textiles, agriculture, or material inspection may substitute manufacturing experience.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to safety procedures and maintains good housekeeping.
• Safely operates and maintains tools and equipment to meet quality and productivity levels.
• Completes training within required timeframe.
• Provides on-the-job training to team members when requested.
• Performs maintenance on equipment with hand tools and instrumentation.
• Operates forklift/crane with proper training when required.
• Interfaces with equipment computers to monitor parameters and alarms.
• Monitors process data (SPC) and makes decisions to maintain process control.
• Collects data and provides reports as requested.
• Ensures materials and in-process inventory are available for the next shift.
