Job summary

Edward-Elmhurst Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) – Technical Specialist in Coagulation at Evanston Hospital in Evanston, IL. The role is full-time, with hours 7am-3:30pm on weekdays and rotating holidays.

Responsibilities include performing coagulation and related tests, maintaining instruments, and collaborating with teams to ensure accurate diagnostic results. Relevant education and experience are required, with ASCP certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree and required CLIA coursework for moderate to high complexity testing.
• MT or MLS (ASCP) certification preferred.
• Three (3) years MT/MLS experience at NorthShore for internal candidates; external candidates require 6 years with supervisory/technical resource experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical microbiology tests in one or more laboratory sections.
• Maintain and calibrate multiplex instrumentation to ensure accurate results.
• Identify and resolve technical/interdepartmental problems affecting testing and reporting.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory QC, testing procedures, and staff competencies.
• Rotate through at least three areas of the Clinical Lab and assist management as needed.
